Happy New Year!

This New Years was so different to any other, but we had such a wonderful time. Eve had been up most of the previous night and that day feeding as she's going through a growth spurt, needless to say Sam and I were both feeling pretty knackered.

We had planned to drive over to Dan and Ocky's for 7pm and were worried about being late as it's quite tricky getting Eve into the car seat sometimes. However the 'girl done good' and fell asleep for the drive over.

Arriving at Dan and Ocky's beautiful home was lovely, their huge Christmas tree looked delightful. We always feel so welcome there and just adored having a big catch up about the birth of our babies with them. Their baby Arthur Fox Higginson was born exactly one week before Eve. Arthur is the first baby-friend that Eve has met so far. Arthur being from South Bristol and our little Eve from the North - perhaps they'll be like real life Romeo and Juliet!?!

We ate snacks, chatted and watched tv until the midnight countdown - seeing in the New Year, watching the fireworks display explode over central London and linking arms singing Auld Lang Syne.

The fireworks that were going off in Bedminster definitely rivalled that of London - as we left Dan and Ocky's about 12.30 we were worried that they'd wake Eve in her car seat as the sound was so intense. I drove us back through Bristol, passing many New Years revellers, finally reaching home to be rewarded with a cucumber martini from Sam. My first in over a year and man, did it taste good!!
