Playful Party Vibes

The weather at the weekend was insanely stormy, but nevertheless I decided to take Eve to Agnes' birthday party in Bishopston by bus. After being stuck in the office all week I felt like a bit of exercise. Poor Sam was in bed with gastroenteritis and a flu bug (what are the odds of getting both at the same time, doh). After I had explained to Eve that we were going to get the bus to Agnes' party she sat on my lap and let me put her party outfit on. I could tell how excited she was as she was such a good girl getting into the pram, and remained so as rain hammered down on top of the pram cover and in the two different buses that we had to take to get across Bristol.

I was slightly nervous as she didn't want to use the potty before we left the house, but the girl obviously has a good bladder and was fine. When we finally arrived at Playful Cafe on Fenton Road, she had of course, fallen asleep. She looked so cute but I knew that I had to wake her up, missing the party was a total no-no.

After a few minutes of waking up in weird surroundings, her cousin Jago and good friend Lamorna arrived. Straight away they got down to playing with a train set, and had a go on the bouncy castle. Eve particularly loved racing around on the wooden cow in the photo above.

The Playful Cafe is really quite nice. It's a large space, and had lots of places to sit and relax, whilst the kids scampered about.

I enjoyed catching up with my sister and good friends, and just loved seeing all of our kids being together having fun.

The Playful Cafe has a good kitchen role play area, and Eve was happy playing with the dishes in the sink.

Before lunch there was dancing; when the music stopped the kids had to sit on the floor. Eve was absolutely delighted by this and threw herself down with great gusto. I loved dancing with Eve and my dear little nephew Jago, and by the looks on their faces we could tell that they were thrilled by the party vibes.

All the kids sat down to eat lunch together. I was pleased to see that Eve chose a chair by the cheese and sandwiches rather than the crisps. She enjoyed eating the party food, but especially the sausages and sandwiches.

Very happy with her lunch

Watching Eve choosing and eating a party ring took me right back to primary school parties. Oh the memories...

Jago

After lunch, the bubble machine came on whilst various Disney songs played. As if the kids weren't rapturous enough a lady started making balloon creations. I almost shed a tear to see the children so happy together. When Jago dances he loves to bogle and kept me with a smile on my face for the duration.

Ecstatic Eve

For the finale the lady did some glitter tattoos on the children. Eve became curious as soon as she saw other children sitting down and I could tell she was keen to try it. The lady asked her if she wanted a snowman or a reindeer, and she chose a reindeer. I've tried to wash it off in the bath but it's not shifting. Eve's been telling us for the past few days that she didn't chose a snowman, each time she looks at it on her arm.

Tattoo time

I took lots of videos so that I could show Daddy later that day, though all my photos and videos are a bit blurry as the children were racing around so quickly. As we prepared to leave the party Eve walked into the bathroom to use the carry potty, this went fine which was a highlight of the trip for me. She's very independent and likes to pull her own clothes down to use the potty these days. The rain was still pouring down as we put our shoes and coats on, so thankfully Claire and Jody offered us a lift home. I was also feeling quite dizzy by that point, so I jumped at the chance of a nice warm car ride home.

Once I got home I started feeling worse; I had caught the flu from Sam. We both spent the rest of the weekend feeling absolutely awful. Eve was a little shining light. Whilst we lay on the sofa feeling rather worse for wear, she jumped up and used the duvet on the top of Sam's legs as a slide, laughing as she went. She is the loveliest girl to have around when you're not feeling well.

A character was ill on one of Eve's tv shows that day and said they were 'poorly.' That evening as I took her up to her bath I said to her that I hoped she would be a good girl for me, and she looked at me and said, 'mummy poorly.' She was brilliant with bath and bed time because she knew that I wasn't well. What a wondrous bean - as we used to say when she was a baby!
