Eve eating lunch at Elodie's party
This weekend has been a lot of fun for Eve. Granny T arrived early on Saturday morning from Cornwall. After taking Eve to the swings, Granny and I walked over to my sister's house in Southville with Eve asleep in the pram.
Eve has been suffering a bit with her teeth these past few days, but has done pretty well despite the pain. We've had some blips where she has been upset but then quickly felt better after having some medicine. Eve has had x12 teeth for ages without sign of any others. I'm guessing another one or two might be about to pop through soon. The thought of her having to go through the next year accumulating the rest of her teeth isn't great. But that's evolution for you, eh.
She had a short nap on the way to Claire's house, and was still a bit sleepy when we arrived to see the birthday boy, cousin Jago.
I had the day beforehand off work to bake Jago's birthday cakes. I made Carrot cake muffins with lemon and orange sugar syrup and lemon icing. Not exactly toddler friendly - but hey ho, it's a birthday treat!
There were a lot of people at the party, Claire and Jody's house was pretty rammed; filled with smiley, happy people.
It was nice to catch up with some of Claire's old school friends that I hadn't seen in years. It was lovely to see everyone with their children.
Jody and my sister looked stoked at having their nearest and dearest there to share the celebration. Plus Jago had just started walking which was cool.

It's a fair walk between my house and my sister's. Mum and I stopped at the playground in Victoria Park on the way home. Eve enjoyed the two different slides there, though I had to help her with some of the steps which are still a bit too big for her to manage. By the time we arrived home we were tired but content after a heartwarming day.
Once Eve was in bed, I made a yummy warm chicken salad for us adults. My mum was very kind and relaxed on the sofa, listening out for Eve, so that Sam and I could go to a bar for a drink. We've been eyeing up Southside for ages. It's just down the road and we walk past it each day on our way to and from work. As soon as we walked in the door Southside spelt out the cool funkiness of Bristol. It was so good to have a fun chat with Sam, and we were both really impressed with the drinks and bar staff. Fully recommend it Bristol peeps!

Sunday started off with a bonus lie in until 7am. The night before Eve had woken up at 4.45am ready for the days events, so this big sleep was needed by tired ol' Mummy. Granny T had left early, so we were sorry to not say goodbye to her, but she had left Eve a drawing which was really cute.
We had a lazy morning, with Eve wandering about in her pants. She was sad as we were trying to get out the door to Elodie's party, as her teeth were sore. I gave her lots of teething gel which seemed to do the trick. Eve also became much happier when she realised that Daddy and Mummy were taking her on a trip in the car.
We arrived at the mayhem of Elodie's 4th birthday party - 20 children running about going wild. The party was at St. Barnabas Primary School. The last time I was there was for Elodie's 2nd birthday when I was 7 months pregnant. I have photos of me and baby bump Eve outside in the garden in the sunshine. A wonderful memory.
Eve was the youngest there and didn't really join in. I saw her looking around at the other children, who were all doing their thing together. Eve set about happily playing by herself with various dolls, prams, Duplo pieces and balls that were dotted about the hall.

Birthday girl Elodie sat in the middle of the parachute
Eve was interested by the colourful parachute and was the first one to run over to it. She was a bit too small to be able to hang on to the edge as the children shook it with intense enjoyment.
Lunch time was set for midday but Eve couldn't wait and started to get upset (she also hadn't had her usual morning nap as the party had started at 10.45am). Thankfully Elodie's mum Laura, gave Eve some food before the others.
Agnes and Eve eating lunch
Eve was quite content eating her lunch whilst she watched the shenanigans going on around her. Elodie's younger sister Agnes, came and started eating her lunch next to Eve shortly later. Agnes is very cute. I can see what a difference having an older sister makes. She came over to Eve and said 'Hello' and then proceeded to try to hug her. Unfortunately Eve was a bit wary of her.
Sam and I could tell that Eve was exhausted. As the rest of the 4 year old sat down for lunch we thought it was best to leave. Eve had done well eating sandwiches, breadsticks and sausages. We didn't want her to eat chocolates and cakes for dessert as we had a bit of an ordeal the night before getting Eve to eat dinner at home. After she had consumed party food that day for Jago's birthday celebration, all she wanted to eat for dinner was cake, doh.
Eve was given her first party bag. She was delighted looking through it in the car on the way home. There were a few little toys and a bottle of bubbles. She absolutely loved the slinky, but it couldn't contain her attention for long as she fell asleep in the car.
Whilst she slept for a couple of hours in her cot at home, I potted up bulbs, tidied the front garden and set everything out ready for the winter. I got this job just done in time it seems. We had heavy rain last night and the week ahead is looking grey and rainy. Winter is coming.
