Development Milestones


11.02.2017 - Growth spurt slept til from 7pm until after 9am

10.02.2017 - Growing pains started - aching hands and feet. Drew around the dots of letters to create the word 'cow' completely by herself.

06.02.2017 - Weighs 2 stone exactly.

01.02.2017 - Chicken pox started, worst between 3rd and 4th. Much better by 6th, back at nursery on 7th.

13.01.2017 - Eve's first snow seen - just a sprinkling.

Early January 2017 - questioning things like 'where is space?' etc, knows which days of the week relate to which certain activities or routine.

31.12.2016 - Using all toilets, potty packed away.

29.12.2016 - Number 2 in a public toilet at Boca Bar. Constantly singing, great range of vocabulary.

25.12.2016 - Ate scrambled egg of her own accord.

14.10.2016 - Used the toilet of her own accord at nursery for the first time. After asking her to use the toilet at home and nursery for the past few months she was adamant that she didn't want to use it. But now she has independently chosen to do so as we all stopped trying to make her.

October 2016 - Still using pull up pants but quite a few dry nights. Walks down the stairs holding the banisters with confidence. Doesn't ask us to carry her down any more.

18.09.2016 - Ate soft boiled egg of her own accord for the first time.

July 2016 - Started using pull up pants for the night time - has accidents sometimes but not every night

20.06.2016 - Consecutive nights of dry sheets.

14.06.2016 - Has had some bedtime 'accidents' but on the whole it's going very well.

8.06.2016 - Past three nights slept through the night with dry sheets :-)

05.06.2016 - Slept from 10.30pm to 6.30am without a nappy for the first time = dry bed! (Had accident after bed time but once bedding changed all good.) Uses and understands the use of 'our's and 'us.'

June 2016 - Really good at jigsaw puzzles. Brilliant vocabulary, talkative, amusing, strong willed.

Early May 2016 - Can put chunks of jigsaw puzzles together by herself.

01.05.2016 - Can catch balls and balloons!

15.04.2016 - Squeezed toothpaste on her toothbrush by herself with ease and brushed her teeth quite well.

08.04.2016 - Eve put her shoes on her feet with ease and did up the velcro strips. Speaks with ease, complicated sentences and replies to us. Uses, please, sorry and thank you often.

04.04.2016 - Back to normal after illness.

24.03.2016 - Measles - and sore teeth, molars

22.03.2016 - Teeth pain with high temperature - molars almost through.

20.03.2016 - Clearly said, 'I'll do it,' rather than, 'Eve do it.'

06.03.2016 - Taught herself how to swing with her legs on the swing to propel herself forwards and backwards.

29.02.2016 - Understands and uses, 'yours,' and 'mine,' well. Walked up the stairs holding the banisters the whole way with ease for the first time, completely by herself and rapidly.

26.01.2016 - Said, 'Help me, Daddy' this morning whilst eating her cereal.

24.01.2016 - Said, 'I want helps, mummy.' (Usually says, 'Mummy help you,' when she wants me to help.)

11.01.2016 - First 'school trip' to Bristol Zoo. Pants all day, no accidents. Decided alongside nursery: no more nappies at nap time.

29.12.2015 - Top and bottom left molars have come through without too much pain. Taken sides off cot and installed safety gate across her bedroom door.

18.12.2015 - Doing brilliantly with the potty, and has really got the hang of poo's by herself. Talking loads, does alphabet puzzle with ease. Can point out multiple numbers and letters.

Christmas 2015 - Drinking out of a plastic beaker/cup with ease.

03.12.2015 - Eve woke me up in the morning to tell me that she had done a poo and needed to use the potty. I took her nappy off and sat her on the potty, where she did a wee. Very good!

25.11.2015 - Said the word, 'alphabet.'

24.11.2015 - Back to sleeping through to around 7 or 8am.

23.11.2015 - Constipated, trying to get her to eat more fruit and veg and drink more water.

18.11.2015 - Eve has been having a few potty accidents the last few days, I think it is due to confusion about poo's. When I collected her from nursery she hadn't been for a wee for a few hours so we thought she was probably holding a poo. When we arrived home I asked her if she needed the potty but she said no. I took off her clothes and went to sort out the bath. When I came downstairs she had sat herself on the potty and was doing a poo. I was very proud of her.

16.11.2015 - Got rid of baby changing mat at last.

12.11.2015 - Teething pain getting progressively worse since 06.11.2015, canine top teeth coming through. Waking between 4 and 5.30am. Very upset.

11.11.2015 - said 'Eve doesn't like it,' about a video on youtube.

10.11.2015 - Woke throughout the night with tooth pain.

08.11.2015 - Whilst at Grandad Col's with a nappy on from the drive, she told Daddy that she needed a wee in the potty. She did a wee in the potty and not in her nappy.

07.11.2015 - Sang the full alphabet song perfectly.

04.11.2015 - Whilst we were in the kitchen this morning, Eve looked up at the fridge and asked me to pass her the letter 'O' magnet. I took it off the fridge and gave it to her. She looked at it and said 'O'

01.11.2015 - Eve has been using connecting words, such as 'and' for the last couple of weeks. She is formulating sentences well. This evening she said, 'Eve wants to eat.' For the first time I didn't wake up when Eve woke up in the night time so Sam got up with her to settle her from a bad dream.

17.10.2015 - Stopped using baby bottle with nipple for bedtime drink of water. Tried this about 4 months ago but she got very upset. Now she like's her 'special bedtime cup' and is doing well with it. However she is a bit more agitated and takes me an extra ten minutes to get her to settle down for sleep.

Mid October - Wee's and poo's multiple times a day in the potty. Doing really well, not many accidents now.

09.10.2015 - Early Years Log: An observation has been added to the learning journey of your child Eve Fergusson. "At breakfast time Eve is given some banana. She looks at her friends plate seeing that he has none, she takes her own banana and gives him some. "

08.10.2015 - x6 wee's on the potty and x2 accidents. Really good!

05.10.2015 - Wears pants to and from nursery. Doing very well with potty training. Understands scale - large, big, small and tiny.

01.10.2015 - Large vocabulary - talking a lot, questions things, can have good conversation with us.
Eve is really good at singing the alphabet song now. The only bit she hasn't quite mastered is 'L-M-N-O-P,' which is quite a tongue twister I guess. The rest of the letters she pronounces well.

30. 09.2015 - First poo in the potty with daddy.

28.09.2015 - First poo in the potty, with mummy.

21.09.2015 - Recognised the letters 'S' and 'B' at nursery in a book. Learning phonics on youtube and in phonics sticker books.

19.09.2015 - Counted to 10 by herself as she walked up the hill through the cemetery with Daddy.

17.09.2015 - Counted up to 7 by herself whilst stacking blocks.

15.09.2015 - For the first time in about 7 months Eve kept waking up between 2 and 6am due to a cold.

09.09.2015 - asked to use the potty at nursery and went straight over and did a wee. Wee'd in the potty before her night time bath. Says: why and sorry.

Beginning Sept 2015 - Says good, again, nice, kitten. Wee'd in the potty on three consecutive days.

31 August 2015 - Did a big wee in the potty in the bathroom before her bath with ease, by herself, without any tears or worries. (Did a little wee in the potty that morning but was slightly upset). Talks about and tells us she needs to use the potty. Formulating lots of sentences. Says 'morning daddy,' also now says orange, though I think she still sees the colour red. During her bath last night she said 'ready, 1,2, 3' as I prepared to squirt water out of her toy dragon. Says 'outside,' 'up and down,' 'down,' ' alright.'

Mid August - Says house, seesaw, yes, climbs up fences. Calls all her friends at nursery by name. Says t-shirt, formulating sentences and repeating everything we say. Says 'there he/she is,' 'outside,' 'Oopsydaisy,' 'other one,' 'this one,' 'white,' 'kangaroo,' 'alright,'

Mid-End July - Says Oh no in a proper Bristolian accent! Says finished, knock knock, window, door, teeth, tissue. Says nose, eyes and ears well, almost says mouth; points to them all and knows where they are. Says knees, tree, dog, cat, tweet tweet for bird, miaow, woof woof. Says bed, daddy bed, oh no mummy bed etc - good at formulating sentences with the words she knows. Picking up vocabulary each day. Likes to wipe her own nose with a tissue, says tissue. Says back if she wants us to put something back. Says finished when she's eaten her breakfast. Says shine.

28.07.2015 - Really good with colours, says: yellow, red, blue, green, purple, white. Good at counting, tells us that she has put 3 toys into her pram. Loves singing the alphabet song and is getting really good at it. Says flannel, window, tip toes. Jumped in the air! Stands on her tip toes and walks about. Pretty good having her teeth brushed now.

22.07.2015 - Been sleeping amazingly well for maybe two months. Last two weeks slept until 7/8am, even when we were away from home two times. Yesterday Eve slept until 9am, didn't sleep in the day and then slept all night again.

Mid July 2015 - Says purple, sure, maybe. Laughs a lot if you scrunch up your face and shut your eyes. Putting lots of words together. Really good at singing songs, we can recognise them all, has really good tone and rhythm. Says chair.

03.07.2015 - Bought second pair of shoes, size 3.5F

01.07.2015 - Wee'd in the potty for the first time

26.06.2015 - Took her baby to bed for the first time

21.06.2015 - Pointed at one of my eyes and said 'eye', and keeps doing so. Copied me saying, 'hands in the air' when dancing

16.06.2015 - Recognised me on Facetime and said, 'Mummy there!'

Mid June - says Thank you and tree. Past month doesn't like having her nappy changed if it's a poo. Says, yellow and blue with ease. Says rrrr for red. Recognises us on facetime - said 'mummy there!'
Started potty training.

End May - 12 teeth (four front top and bottom, two middle top and bottom. Consistently sleeping through the night from 7pm to 6.30am. Says Dog, Blue, Red, Oh no, Oh dear, Drawings, Strawberries, wow. Loves dancing in front of the tv. Loves Mrs. Tiggywinkle and baby doll Emily. Likes to hold bunch of pens and draw with them at the same time.

Middle of May - says 'bye bye' and yellow, still sleeping really well. Sleeping through the night! Using cutlery really well unaided. Slipped and bumped her chin on the tv unit again - bruised. Walking outside with confidence. Likes jumping on the trampoline in the park and going down the slide and standing on the roundabout.

Beginning of May 2015 - sleeping really well, often sleeping through the night or waking just once. Eve plays her own made up chords on the Casio keyboard. Says 'dogs', 'woof woof.' Generally incredibly chatty, curious and loves investigating things.

20.04.2015 - Slept through the night for x3 consecutive nights

05.04.2015 - Walked outside for the first time at Claire and Jody's Easter get-together. Says 'wow!', 'oh dear', started putting the right shaped wooden blocks through the holes of box. Has x10 teeth (x4 front top and bottom and x2 mid way back upper.

28.03.2015 - First slight injury. Slipped and hit her chin on tv unit. Bruised and skin is broken but not cut.

27.03.2015 - Slept from 7pm to 5am three times in one week, waking only once on the other nights. Drinking water before bed and water during the night time - almost weaned!

05.03.2015 - Started walking independently - at home with Daddy for the first time. (Fourteen months and 3 weeks old).

Beginning March - spoonfeeds herself

End Feb - Pointing at things and saying 'what's this?' Likes opening and closing doors lots.
Sleeping better.

14.02.2015 - Bought first pair of shoes, size 3F

Mid Feb - Walks holding our hands and can walk a few paces herself into our arms. Much more confident. Second ear infection, antibiotics given. Sleeping improving, wakes at 1am ish and then 5am for the morning.

Beginning Feb - cold and another bout of conjunctivitis with a swollen eye. Stands unaided with ease but hasn't gained the confidence to walk by herself yet.

Mid January - using sippy cup by herself

Early January 2015 - cradle cap completely gone

By end of December 2014 has x7 teeth in total, likes to work out which toys fit inside others, puts things inside containers, walks around the kitchen with her walker, pauses to stand without holding on to anything. Still attempting to get Eve to drink from sippy cup and use a spoon by herself

25 December - puts fried egg inside toy pan

24-26 December - really bad teething pain (had been building for a week and a half prior to this)

20 December - puts toys inside containers

8 December - Eve has been saying Da-da and Mum-mum for a few months, but today very clearly said 'Daddy'

1 December - top two front teeth coming through well - two adjacent teeth just coming through also

27 November - second course of antibiotics for continuing chest infection and ear infection

11 November - antibiotics prescribed for chest infection and conjunctivitis (48 hours off nursery).

End of October - claps her hands

31 October (Daddy's birthday) - Completed first full week of nursery. Bad teeth through the week but waking up once a night for the past week at about 1am. Slept for the whole night 7pm-6am today, sat morn!

26 October - Sunday high temperature. Medicine and relaxing at home worked a treat.

16 October - Last two nights only woke once - pretty much had a full night's sleep (10 months)
(Drinks water then about 70 ml of milk if she wakes)

15 October - finally likes mango with the skin on!

12 October - Enjoying playing the Casio Keyboard

9 October - Played a couple of tunes on the xylophone. Bounces the ball with more precision.

8 October - Started sticking out her tongue to the side

30 September - Bounced a ball repeatedly with ease. Stands on feet with bum in the air and hands on the floor, trying to stand tall.

20 - September - Eve started crawling properly in the morning under the watchful eyes of Granny T

15 September - Started patting her chest and is trying to learn how to clap

End of August - started sleeping on her front, has both bottom front teeth

26 August - Eve started brushing her teeth

13 August - first tooth pops through - her bottom right. We can feel the other tooth just under the skin

Towards end of July - sleeps on her side a lot

Mid July - can strum the ukelele rather that hitting or biting it. Started to pull herself up on things. Can stand well holding on to sofa with one hand (but have to be there in case she falls)

Really got into drinking water during holiday in Greece mid July 2014

Mid-End June - Started waking up in the night time due to teething pain (lasted all summer due to holidays, house move, teething). Woke up between 2-4 times every night until mid October.

Bad teething lasted for 3 weeks from 28 week point, badly swollen face, administered lots of calpol and calprofen.

28 Weeks - First vocal recording in the studio on the intro of Monomyth. Beetroot. Recorded her first vocal in the studio. Teething pain returns after 6-8 weeks of no pain. Badly swollen face, lopsided lips on one side.

27 Weeks - Enjoys blowing bubbles and raspberries at the same time. Babaganoush, Greek yogurt.

26 Weeks - Rolls from back to front. Tiny pasta.

25 Weeks - Puts feet in her mouth. Weetabix and milk, bits of toast, hummus, strawberry puree.

24 Weeks (6 months) - Loves coming in for hugs. Fromage frais, salmon, red pepper, celery, tomato, oregano puree. Stopped sterilising bottles. Mimics sounds back in same key if you hum to her. Seems to sing to herself as she's falling asleep in the cot.

23 Weeks - Peach puree, banana and avocado puree. Sits up really well un-aided to watch tv.

22 Weeks - Breakfast and lunch purees. Sweet potato, banana, banana and blueberry, butternut squash, Squash carrot and chicken puree Hipp. Stands with ease whilst her hands are held, wants to stand up lots. Sits up with ease but prone to tilting over still. Sleeping in cot bed - sleeping through till 7am. Stopped using the rain machine for sleep during the night time.

21 Weeks - First food introduced. (20.6 weeks tried tiny bit of pureed parsnip on the first day). Second day ate baby rice, very successful, Eve really enjoyed it and ate it all. 'Played' the xylophone for the first time. Much louder and making more guttural sounds and shrieks. Stiffens/straightens legs well in a standing pose, legs apart in good stance.
Lunch only - Baby rice, apple and cinnamon, pear and cinnamon.

20.6 Weeks - Drank largest quantity in one go (200ml)

20 Weeks - Medium flow teats successful after some persevering.

19 Weeks - Sat up un-aided, uses her hands to steady her balance. Tried using Medium flow teats number 2 - not successful.

18 Weeks - Lots of squeaky sounds. Sucks her thumb. Curls her tongue. Definitely trying to talk. Tries to say 'hello'. Grabs and picks things up with ease.

17 Weeks - Showing signs that she wants to start eating food.  Naps more consistent - morning (1.5-2 hours), afternoon (1.5-2 hours), early evening (approx 1 hour). Brushed her hair for the first time. Very chatty, 'sounds' like she says 'mummy' sometimes!
First Swim.

15 Weeks - Rolls over from front to back. Has started making different vocal sounds - much longer and more defined tone.

14 Weeks - Properly laughing when I change and tickle her. Holds bottle by herself for five minutes. Rolls onto her side (to watch tv!)

13 Weeks - Grabs rattle by herself, keeps hold of it and shakes it. Recognised us in the mirror and smiled

12 Weeks - Started teething.

11 Weeks - Attempts to grab the bottle when I'm feeding her. Stopped breastfeeding, has started burping by herself.

10 Weeks - Fits in socks properly for the first time, sucking her thumb more, likes to play peek-a-boo.

9 Weeks - Sleeps through the night, can hold a rattle if we put it in her hand but drops it promptly.

8 Weeks - Seems to concentrate on moving her arms in time to music.

7 Weeks - Started putting on weight well.

6 Weeks - Giving bottle of formula alongside breast-milk.
